Cambridge International Dipolma in Teaching With ICT

Overview - Benefits

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has become a vital resource in teaching and learning. In all subjects, contexts and phases of education, teachers need to know how best to make use of a range of ICT to support teaching and learning. They need to use ICT so that it really helps their learners to learn, helps themselves to practise and develop as professionals, and helps their institutions to develop as learning communities. Candidates are encouraged to develop a creative, critical and resourceful approach to ICT - including knowing when to use ICT to best effect.

The syllabus is based on generic global standards of performance, skills and knowledge, and these provide a set of clear parameters in which both candidates and Centres can work. The syllabus is in line with current standards issued by both UNESCO and ISTE to ensure that it remains up-to-date, current and relevant.

As ICT changes, teachers need to be able to approach new technology competently and with confidence, so that they can develop their students' capabilities, improve their own professional practice and make a significant contribution to their institution's goals in education and training. The Diploma equips teachers with the knowledge necessary to achieve these goals.

Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching with ICT at a glance

The Diploma is awarded to candidates who successfully complete four assignments in which they demonstrate and reflect on their skills and knowledge in their own teaching and training practice.

The Diploma assignments are organized around four modules:

  1. Plan the use of ICT in teaching and learning
  2. Manage the use of ICT in teaching and learning
  3. Assess teaching and learning using ICT
  4. Evaluate and embed the use of ICT in teaching and learning

The Diploma involves approximately 180 hours of preparation, including formal professional development activities, individual and group study and preparation of the assignment. We provide dedicated support materials and guidance to candidates and Centres. You can find the essential documents for the Diploma on the Resources page.

Where can the Diploma be taken?
